The Countess of Mar, Britain’s only female hereditary peer, is stepping
down from the House of Lords after 45 years

As the only female hereditary peer in the House of Lords, at first
glance the grandly-titled Countess of Mar would strike many as the type
to rail against reforms to the ‘unelected’ upper chamber.
