Severe M.E Day – 8th of August 2016
A day to remember everyone who is suffering or who has ever suffered from Severe and Very Severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.

A day to honor
A day to honor the strength of spirit of all those who have endured and continue to endure decades of suffering and profound physical dysfunction and yet receive little, or no recognition or help, but rather continue to experience gross misrepresentation and misinterpretation of their illness and profound disability.

Severe M.E. – A Day for Understanding & Remembrance:
8th Aug 2016
Shhhhh….
Amanda and younger sister Katie, in happier days
Katie also assisted Amanda with her last fundraising venture, a
Christmas Fayre last December which raised just over £600.
So a massive ‘thank you’ to Amanda and Katie from all of us.
As a Day of Understanding & Remembrance dawns on 8th
Aug, we pay tribute to the strength of mind and spirit in
adversity shown by people who are living with severe and
very severe M.E.
And to one member in particular.
Step forward, Amanda Jane Hendrie…..
Bedbound and fed by naso gastric tube when she organised a
Christmas Fayre in her local town hall In December last year,
Amanda has since deteriorated and can no longer speak.
We were very sorry to hear this, and as if that is not enough
for a person to live through Amanda suffered a sudden and
very sad bereavement.
So it really does speak volumes for her resilience in adversity
and her generosity of spirit that she retains her creativity and
is still turning her attention to raising awareness – and raising
funds for us.
And what better way for Amanda to raise awareness than to
arrange a sponsored silence? To mark A Day for Understanding
& Remembrance on Aug 8th Amanda’s sister Katie and some of
the staff who provide round the clock waking care for Amanda
will be aiming to keep silent for 24 hrs.
